I believe that the relationship between the counsellor and client is one of the most important factors in successful therapy, and you will find me warm, personable, open, and non-judgemental. I seek to build a strong connection based on trust and loyalty, so that we can work together with empathy, honesty, and respect.
Every relationship is unique, and I use a flexible approach to adapt to each person’s needs. My core training was in Person-Centred and Psychodynamic therapy, but I also bring in elements of Solution Focused Brief therapy, where appropriate.
Based in Ledbury, I offer Face-to-Face, Walk and Talk and Online Therapy.

Client or person-centred therapy comes under the humanistic umbrella, and humanistic psychology believes we all contain untapped potential. This approach focuses on maximising your ability to find solutions with the right amount of support from me. Person-centred therapy is rooted in believing you have all the answers from within to thrive. As your therapist, I guide and support you to find the answers so that you can speak freely and openly.
It is a non-directive approach, where you lead me during each therapy session. During our sessions, you build upon increasing self-awareness, improving your ability to use self-direction to make desired changes with increased clarity, while enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence.
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on how your unconscious thoughts and perceptions are formed throughout childhood and how this affects your behaviour and thoughts today. This therapy aims to create fundamental change in your emotional development by helping you understand and resolve your problems, and by increasing your awareness of your inner self and how this can influence your relationships.
I help you see how to identify distress and develop defence mechanisms, allowing you to begin changing recurring negative or unhelpful patterns. During our sessions, I may help you gain insight into your past life and present-day issues by looking at certain factors such as emotions, thoughts, early-life experiences, and beliefs. With mutual support and collaboration, I help you explore and understand your journey of self-discovery to gain a new perspective, enabling you to move forward to change.
SFBT is a short-term, goal-focused, evidence-based, therapeutic approach to help clients bring about change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.
During sessions, we may carefully explore your life experiences and behavioural patterns to build a practical and sustainable way forward that you can readily put into practice. It's about the future rather than the past and promotes positive change by encouraging you to focus on what you can do rather than what you cannot.

It is important to find the right counsellor for you so that you can really get the most from your sessions. I therefore offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss how I may be able to help you.
You can decide if we are a good fit and if you would like to work with me. If you wish to proceed, we can arrange a mutually convenient time for your first consultation, which is more of an in-depth session.
